<p>I worked in another state as a teacher’s assistant for several years. I was hired through my county’s intermediate unit. I would investigate employment through the local intermediate unit.(I am not familiar at all with New York state) It was a very rewarding job to have for a few years.</p>

<p>Are you certified? I’m not sure if it’s needed at private schools but it would show a certain level of training and ability.</p>
<p>Are you interested in working with sped kids at a regular private school or at a sped school?</p>
<p>For the latter, go on to the NYS Education Dept and look for the listing of sped schools and then contact those you are interested in. For regular schools, just look them up and send a resume or make a phone call.</p>
