Looks like good news for new students

<p>I’m not going to wade through the bill at 10 PM on a Sunday night, but I remember when this bill was introduced. The original summary was:

Requires the governing boards of each public institution of higher education to implement policies to grant a minimum of 24 undergraduate semester credit hours to entering freshman students who have successfully completed the International Baccalaureate diploma program. The governing boards must report to the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia the policy adopted and implemented, and make the policy available on the institution’s website.

<p>The final bill sounds a bit more vague:

Requires the governing boards of each public institution of higher education to implement policies regarding the granting of credit for International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement courses. The governing boards must report to the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia the policy adopted and implemented, and make the policy available on the institution’s website.

<p>Because Virginia has so many IB schools (I’ve read that we’re third in the nation when states are put in order, if that makes sense), I would expect all of the public universities to have policies already in place.</p>
