Lopsided Application

I was wondering how high level schools like penn view a very lopsided application.
I have done very well in History and English classes
I have done decently in science (although I did take the SAT II for bio M and got a 740) but have also taken all honors including Chem, Bio Physics (in that order) and gotten a B, B+ C+ respectively
I have gotten two Bs and a B+ in math but did take Alg in 8th grade so I am in pre calc now but wont be taking calc next year
I did however get a 740 CR 700 M 720 W on SATs which doesnt look very lopsided
My ec’s are also very politically inclined including Boys State, being student liaison to the Board of Education volunteering for a political campaign and Model UN
My GPA puts me in the top 15% of the class maybe top 10 but I go to a very competitive school in NJ
O and i plan on majoring in political science
do you think my strong humanities will overcome my poor results in math/science
thanks!

I would never say one aspect of an application compensates for another, weaker aspect, but I can say that if you stand out as a strong applicant in various ways, the school may still be compelled to accept you. I don’t think they expect you to be stellar in every subject, obviously, but given your context (attending a top school in NJ), you’d be best off consulting your GC or Family Connection if your school uses that.

thanks for the response
my school does use naviance and there are a few kids who got into penn with similar stats (all ED) and I assume that they must have had some area where they stood out
I will deff talk to my guidance counselor but i always like to hear diff opinions

96% or so of the Penn’s freshman class was in the top 10% of their class, so if you are outside of the top 10% that may be a problem.
