When school says they prefer teacher recommendations from teachers who taught junior or sophomore year, do they mean recommended or really required?
Some don’t mention any preference. What they must be expecting in this case?
Any one applied with letter from sophomore teacher and worked out fine?
If you’re given instructions, I would follow the instructions. No doubt many get in with blah letters or letters from 10th but if you know in advance afar they want, I’d follow it.

Unless a college specifies only junior/senior year teachers, using one sophomore teacher LOR should be fine.
My child applied with one LOR from a sophomore year teacher and one from a junior year teacher and there was no issue.
