LOR Questions

Here’s the dealio:

I’m hoping to apply for a masters in aquaculture. I’m volunteering at a state hatchery and in a profs. lab. I’m setting myself up to be a transient student at the university I want to do my masters in this summer. The main reason I am doing this is because I want to volunteer in the lab that I want to do my graduate studies in. Ive already talked to the prof. and he said he would be more then happy to have me in his lab for the summer.

I want to do this because my school doesn’t do any aquaculture research and I see this as a good way to get my feet wet.

Im concerned though because as far as LOR options I have the hatchery manager (an acceptable reference for this field), the professor at my school, and then maybe the prof. at this other school.

When the time comes would it be bad to ask for a lor from the guy you want to study under in this situation?

Nope, it’s definitely not bad form, but do make sure he’s willing to write you a strong letter of recommendation! :)

Granted I haven’t gone down there yet… I will make sure to absolutely make a great impression. I just wasn’t sure if that was okay to do.

Good to hear!
