Hey, I currently go to DVC and want to transfer into Berkeley Econ… some of the classes provided at DVC dont have the best teacher ratings. If I take two pre-req classes at Los medanos will berkeley frown upon that?

LMC and DVC are in the same district.
I don’t see why it’d be a problem.

thats what I figured, im just worried

Did you get accepted this year or do you plan to apply for fall 2012?

I plan to apply fall 2012

Oh, ok. Then it’s totally fine to take the classes! LOL, I thought you already applied and just decided to take classes at a college other than the one you specified on the UC app without informing Berkeley.

Coming from a fellow DVC student, I heard LMC’s teachers are worse. ![]()
But hey, ask a counselor if you really think it could be a problem, but I doubt it.

thanks guys! DVC just has such a great reputation I thought possibly UCB would not like me taking classes somewhere else when they offer it at DVC

So, I’m taking Linear Algebra at LMC this semester because the Linear Algebra classes at DVC conflicted with other classes I needed to take. None of the schools I applied to seemed to care.

Well I was more specifically asking about UCB as they are extremely meticulous… any other inputs?

I’ve taken classes at all 3 of my district’s community colleges due to scheduling conflicts on courses I needed to complete. Since I’ve been taking 24-26 units, I find it nearly impossible to complete my classes at one school. I think doing so shows your dedication if anything. Plus, though some CCs are known for being slightly better than others, articulation agreements exist because UCs have determined that a particular class is equivalent to their standards (aka they will not care where you take it as long as there is an articulation agreement). When they see your app, they’re not going to ratemyprofessor.com to see if you copped out and took a class with someone easier :)

hahahah yeah exactly. Ok good, just making sure

How’s the linear algebra teacher at LMC? Let’s just say Linear at DVC was a pretty funny experience XD

For starters, the teacher came into class on the 1st day and didn’t even know what book we were supposed to be using. Oops? He was a nice guy, very nice, I think everyone passed. That final was a crazy test though o_O

My Linear Algebra teacher at LMC is pretty nice. He’s pretty understanding. I don’t go to lectures so I really can’t tell you how well he lectures, lol. He is always willing to answer my questions through emails, however, and his responses are usually quite helpful.
