Losing my IU Faculty Award??

So…I got the IU Faculty Award…and the minimum GPA is 3.0…but here’s the thing…I didn’t get a 3.0…but if they already gave me the money for this year, will they take back what was allotted for second semester? Or do I get to keep it for the rest of the school year (by then my GPA should be high enough not to lose it at all)… I can’t find any information on whether or not scholarship eligiblity is evaluated per semester or per year… anyone got any idea?

I think this question could best be answered by your schools FA office or your dean as they can both tell you the conditions for maintaining the scholarship. I do not think that anyone on this board is going to have the answer you are looking for unless they just happen to attend IU and they have the same scholarship.

If you are a freshman, some schools allow you to ease into your GPA while others do not. You gotta find out about the “fine print” of your keeping this scholarship.

Since college is usually paid for by the semester, if the school was snatching your scholarship right now, you would most likely receive a bill for spring’s tuition.

My son also attends IU, although he does not have the same award as you. However, from the reading I have done, it appears that it is renewed on a yearly, rather than a semester, basis. I think you will probably be OK. However, it would be a good idea to check with the FA department just to make sure.

Since spring semester bills have already been posted, before all grades were in, I think it unlikely that they will take back what has been given. However, check to be sure. And work hard next semester! :)

Yeah, i tried to contact the FA office and the phone was busy for like 3 days straight…then everyone went home for x-mas so i have to wait to talk to them till school opens again…

At USC my son’s scholarship required a 3.0. First semester fresman year he had a 2.99. But the 3.0 requirement was for the year, not the semester. Bet it’s the same for you.
