Lost and CC - only if you watched tonight

How many people were watching Lost tonight and thinking about what the parents at CC would say regarding the critical LOR to Yale? Apparently in this alternate Lost universe, all you need to get accepted to an Ivy is a great LOR from an alum principal and one good AP score. Not to mention that her only EC seems to be the six student History Club. Also, how did Alex ever get to see the letter? Did someone at Yale decide it was so wonderful that they had to share it with the student? Alex would not have to worry about paying for college - since she’s so poor that her mom is working two jobs, she would surely get that full scholarship! :p

LOL, Marilyn! I was thinking the same thing!

Great episode, though, huh? I actually felt sorry for Ben. Looks like he’s turning out to be a good guy after all.

I was thinking the same thing!! On both above posts. Lost rules!

Oh, and also, what was up with “My mom works two jobs and I’ll never be able to afford Yale,” said Alex. Don’t the writers know anything about the angst that we all go through to fill out FAFSA, CSS Profile, IDOC, and the FABULOUS financial aid that Yale and the others dish out???

Great episode…one of the best…the Ben Linus character and the actor who plays him are fantastic.

They do seem to be narrowing down to the struggle between good vs evil, and who goes which direction. Such a relief that the need for a good LOR can make the difference! We on CC always knew that college acceptances are the center of the universe, right?

It’s so sad to see Sayid, who truly wanted to be good, not be able to escape his destiny. Both Terry O’Quinn and Michael Emerson are great this season. You can really see Locke going back and forth from the man to the monster - just the look in his eyes going cold gives me shivers. And Ben - who used to be evil incarnate - just wants to belong.

But where oh where is my Sawyer? Still stuck in that cave of names? I miss him! Maybe his love for Juliet will transcend space and time, and he’ll end up on “V” fighting the aliens!

Next episode is about Sawyer.

Yay! I missed his dimples and the sparkle in his eye. Also, toward Marilyn’s comments, it’s clear that Jack has done a 180 from being a man of science to a man of faith. I still like Sawyer MUCH better though.

Hey, you’re forgetting that Alex would have had some REALLY interesting essays if she wrote about a life she imagined in another place.

^^loved this episode, too. Agree with all above comments. I think the producers do know a bit about Yale–Carlton Cuse’s S is a soph there this year. My guess? His family didn’t fill out any FinAid forms. ;)

In real life, does getting a recommendation from an alum really make a difference?

And–now that Alex has the excellent recommendation, it would seem that once she is accepted to Yale and graduates from high school, Ben can still release the emails.

and then the principal can ‘discover’ something worth retracting his recommendation

My D’s comment during the episode was “sorry Ben, the AP Euro test wasn’t that hard :)”

@Marilyn – did you appreciate Sawyer’s shirtless scene last night? I did!

Abs-olutely! I kept repeating “shirtless Sawyer…shirtless Sawyer”. Not to mention “wrapped in sheet Sawyer”. Interesting to see how his double-triple-whatever cross plays out on the island. Over on TWOP, everyone is rooting for a spin-off cop show starring Miles and Sawyer! I’m not sure if we got many answers but plenty of eye candy for sure. And next week - Richard’s story - can’t wait!
