Lost Financial Aid

Hi!

This year, I was accepted at one of my colleges which is need blind and meets full need. Another school I was accepted is not 100% full need. After finishing my financial information in the fall, I contacted all of my schools to make sure they received my financial aid, which all of them said they had.

Upon being accepted at both of these schools, I never received my financial aid but contacted them (today) to ask when I should expect it. Both of the schools had “lost” my information-- it was in their system but they had missed it in the process, thus they hadn’t factored it before.

So my question is: at the 100% full need school, can I still expect scholarship and financial aid to the same degree that I would have had they processed my paperwork before/with everyone else? And does this apply to the other school that doesn’t meet full need, too? (Personally, I would think I should since it wasn’t my fault, but life isn’t fair so I wanted to get input on here!)

Thanks a million!

You would need to ask the schools.

BUT if it’s in their system, it should be “date stamped” with your date of submission. You should get the same financial aid that you would have gotten anyway.

For the school that meets full need…they would still do so.

For the school that doesn’t meet full need…they still won’t meet your full need!

Did you run the net price calculators on these college websites?

Are these the only colleges you submitted forms to? Did your other colleges “get” the forms?

politely forward them the email in which they told you they received your FA applications and ask what needs to be done to complete your FA packages. If you did this over the phone, then screen print your FA portals, etc as appropriate.

They should work with you on this. Since 2 schools ‘lost’ your apps, there may have been a system issue. Ask them which specific pieces they are missing and ask them to work with you on it.
