Lost In The Crowd

Alright so here’s my situation.

My Significant other has decided that she wants to go to the Acadamy Of Arts in San Francisco. We had originally planned to stay here in Hawaii and go to HPU where I would take my undergrad work for the Prerequisites of the UCSF Pharmacy Program and she would take on Nursing. She has all of a sudden made a sudden change to change her mind towards her true passion which is digital media. She has deemed the Acadamey of Arts Sanfrancisco a worthy school to attend so thats set for her.

Now the problem is I’m the type that wants to go to a GOOD school. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but I want to go into a program of high quality and recognition. HPU was never the perfect school I know, it just seemed right since we are from Hawaii, but that aside. I’ve done a little snooping around and cant seem to put my finger on a college IN Sanfrancisco that is worth enough to go to for my undergrad work.

Honestly all I really want is to be done with my prerequisites as fast as I can so I can start applying for the Pharm D program. Depending if I’m accepted right when I apply will I decide if I want to go on and take a major along with the undergrad work. Probably in Chemistry, something that has to do with pharmacy.

So really all I’m looking for is a good school to take my prerequisite under grad work in San Francisco. I want to stay close to my significant other, we wouldn’t want it any other way. Any information that can also be provided about housing options available would be nice.

Thanks in advance!

You need to break up with here then.
NEVER EVER EVER EVER go to college because you “love” someone.

Breaking up isn’t very good advice.

I know what your thinking I shouldn’t have to worry about that kind of thing while picking a college isn’t shouldn’t even factor.

Well I’m sorry to say it does. Honestly were cool if there is a distance, it’s just I want to explore all my available options. You know what I mean? Like if I have a chance to stay near with her and still attend a good college I’m down for it. No I’am not attending college because I love someone. My dream to be a pharmacist has always been there even before her. Plus I have always wanted to experience what it’s like to live in San Francisco, living on an island does have its cultural aspect, but its nothing compared to the cultural levels of a “Big City”

So if anyone can throw me a line here for a good college to go to in San Francisco to complete my under graduate work for pharmacy school it would help a lot.

Please heed my warning…

Anyways. Go to a UCal if your GPA is high enough and go to UCSF for grad school.

I was actually planning on trying for SFSU. Does anyone have any comments about SFSU?

If you have a pulse and a SSN, you should be in.

San Francisco State is like many of the state u’s in CA. Large, and serving a large selection of students - everyone from kids straight out of high school to part-time commuter students. Like all the state u’s the faculty is good because it’s hard to get a teaching job at the university level. That said, many of them are part-time and not always as available as the regular teaching staff. Still, I think SFSU certainly would be a good place to get your prereqs done. Conctact the school to see if they have any data about their success rate for pharm school.

Another place you may want to consider is the University of San Francisco, a private (Jesuit) school. I know several people who did their pre-med there, though that was a while ago.
