Lost luggage -- happy ending!

I don’t fly that much, so you’d figure when I do, something bad would happen, right? :)

D’s luggage didn’t show up when we arrived in Atlanta to visit Emory. She had an appt to meet the running coach and run with the team the next day, so we spent most of our time driving around greater Atlanta buying clothes, running clothes, and sneakers. We had no time for the tour; no time to explore the area (other than Peachtree Road). Not fun.

I saved all our receipts and uploaded them to Delta’s site along with a “delayed baggage” claim form. Yesterday (3 weeks later), I got a check for the full amount!

Apparently, Delta covers loss for luggage out of your possession for 24 hours or more (which it was – they shipped it to our home and it arrived just after we got home).

Sure, I wish they’d never lost it in the first place, but at least they made it right.

Hope it doesn’t happen to you, but if it does, save your baggage claim sticker and all your receipts. See the baggage service people at the airport and get a “claim #”. Then file.

Everyone in our immediate family of 7 has had luggage lost at one time or another. All but one was on the way home so it wasn’t as big an inconvenience. The luggage showed up every time, anywhere from the next day to a week later, with nothing missing, and delivered to our door.

Glad it all worked out for you, Class of 2015!
