Lost wallet, ID, Purse...

Just got another call from my current student…lost ID. Between the first 2 in college I must have heard this a dozen times for something important (ID, Wallet, purse, backpack). I start the 3rd one next year and that’s the “flighty” one!!! I don’t get as wrung up as the first few times, but good lord these are dean’s list students who seem to have almost every other part of their lives in order. I guess I should count my blessings…

I have one of those. My valedictorian son. Book smart but wouldn’t keep track of his head if it wasn’t screwed on!!

Trouble is, those things they lose like wallets, keys, phones, etc. - ALL VERY VALUABLE AND NEEDED!! Most times he has eventually found the lost item, but not until blood pressure in the house or over the phone has risen!

I can identify. My brilliant younger son has lost more phones than I’ve ever owned. My thoughtful older son has had things stolen more times than I can count.

Life is the best teacher. They will learn.

Anyone can lose a wallet or purse. Heck, my wallet was taken from my purse a few years ago while shopping in Trader Joes!
Our students will learn from these experiences, so you can take comfort in that. She’ll be more aware in the future( for awhile, anyway.)

My son thought he was pick-pocketed in NYC last month. Right after Christmas, his wallet was delived by the USPS, with a postage-due notice. Everything was still there, including the cash. Very lucky kid! This is the second time he’s lost it.

The post office told me that people drop off wallets all the time. The just put them in an envelope and mail them to the address on the drivers license, with postage due. I never knew that. Now that’s a valuable service!
