So, unfortunately, we received an email today about financial scholarships, and our scholarship dropped by about 75%! We sent an email asking why it changed and dropped. It’s not a great move to award a prospective student a certain amount of money, then a few weeks later take most of it back without explanation. Has anyone else encountered this?
My son is also OOS (Florida) and did also receive the $13k that was awarded to the others. We just received the merit information a day or two ago and he was accepted about 2 and a half weeks ago.
Is anyone else STILL waiting to receive their student’s admission decision?
Yes!!!
Honestly, we were, but have decided that with the poor communication since applying in August, my D25 has committed to Bama. The fact that LSU advertises rolling admissions but doesn’t adhere to that clearly, is a turn off. They are great about wanting the kids to visit and also sending the newsletters, but have not heard anything about a decision, so we moved on to a more organized school. LSU WAS her first choice and she has competitive credentials, but the delay is ridiculous. Good luck to your son or daughter, but accepting kids in that applied recently and not giving any notice to kids that applied earlier (August/September) just seems that they are unorganized. Bama and all other colleges have been on top of it, so we made our decision. Roll tide lol!
Yeah same. I know that some of the SEC schools are much more selective and have been for a long time, and a few others have become so within the last few years. However, my Understanding has been this wasn’t the case with LSU, and while a good school its standards don’t seem to be all that different from say Bama’s. So for the life of me I can’t figure this out apart from simple lack of organization. So while I’m sure the kids have a great experience at LSU, given how organized Bama admissions was at least for us, I don’t really see a compelling reason to go with lsu over bama. If their admissions are this disorganized imo that doesn’t bode well for the school’s admin in general. ![]()
Still waiting
I’m in the same boat. I applied early August and still have not heard back, and when I called the admissions office, they told me the date I applied did not matter and the decisions are completely randomized. Considering the fact that I received scholarship offers from other schools that have a set expiration date, I can’t wait for a decision from LSU for much longer, especially after hearing that their merit scholarships are being decreased as well. It does suck because LSU was my first choice, but the admissions being this disorganized did leave a negative taste in my mouth. Good luck to everyone still waiting!
Still waiting
I have totally lost any interest in the school. Rolling admissions shouldn’t be apply in Sept and hear back at least four months later. If that’s the case switch to a true EA option.
Agreed since students are cramming to get these applications out due to deadlines. LSU should just do regular decision.
Same thing happened to my son two years ago. LSU had been his number one but their slowness and lack of response to emails pushed him over to Bama.
Just curious.. When did he eventually hear back or did he withdraw before he got a response?
Oh he did get his acceptance sometime in the late fall and scholarship package came Christmas eve…same timeline as my current son. But by Christmas Bama had woo’d him away. They sent his scholarship package so early on, then he did a campus tour in November and they rolled out the red carpet.
Oops, I was wrong, that email was just outlining the first year, not all 4. My bad!
My OOS daughter applied in October I think and heard in November. Received $15K per year Tiger Excellence Nonresident Award.
We are in Birmingham. My daughter applied on 8/20. We heard from LSU ON 1/07 that she was admitted.
She’s been admitted to 5 other SEC schools since she applied to LSU! She’s probably going to Auburn, because LSU took so long. I went to LSU and my heart hurts!
Congrats… did she get merit award at the same time she was admitted or did it come later?
Our daughter was accepted 11/15 and an email came on 12/20 that she received merit. Hope that helps!
My son was accepted !!! He’s very excited!
