I think beginning of November, not completely sure of the date

I’m an OOS TX Senior who applied as a Communications major on August 3rd. I’m beginning to wonder if they send out admissions decisions by major. I’ve had many friends hear back from LSU and get accepted, but for different majors. Has anybody who applied as a Communications major heard back yet? I emailed my LSU counselor a week and a half ago… and have heard nothing back. Starting to worry as I have heard back from every other school I’ve applied to..

We are still waiting on Communications too. OOS and applied on 10/28.

My OOS son applied and submitted all materials by August 8. He reached out to his admissions counselor the other day and was told that they are holding his application until they can review his mid-year grades.

Just curious where else yours has applied and gotten accepted if any schools. Bc my child was admitted to Alabama and Michigan state - both rather quickly after application considered complete - it’s interesting that lsu needs that much more info than those two other schools, one of which seems at least on paper so similar. And MSU academically might be considered ā€œbetterā€ and yet they don’t need those. I’m assuming this is what’s going on with my child too. Weird. Honestly he would probably rather go to Bama at this point anyway but it’s just weird to me.

Hi! I have been following this chat for a while now, just not ā€œofficiallyā€ apart of the convo. I have found all the information that has been shared to be very helpful during our application process!
My son received his acceptance email from LSU last night around 6pm and we are OOS (Florida). We applied via Common App on 10/16. Wanted to share his stats for anyone else that you would like the information: SAT 1240, ACT 24, 4.451WGPA, Dual Enrolled student with 40 college credits and a pretty good amount of extracurriculars and a job.
He has also been accepted to many of the universities here in Florida including FSU.

Good luck to everyone that is still waiting on decisions!

Merit is out, D25 got some. Makes decision easier and kid is happy that LSU loves her

We heard on Merit too. Very nice amount. They’re just starting to deliver it.

Interesting… were they going to send him an email directing him to submit his midyear grades?

Yes, us, too. We just got an email with scholarship info, but the portal is not updated yet.

Was pleasantly surprised! The cost is now cheaper than our state school. Nice to have some strong choices.

For those who applied early this admissions cycle and are still waiting, this has unfortunately been par for the course for LSU admissions. We went thru this last year. There is no rhyme or reason with when their decisions go out. It is not based on OOS, higher or lower GPA’s, major or when you applied. Sorry for those who are going thru the wait. I would say that if the school appeal to you, do not let the admissions office cycle affect what could be your happy place. Good luck!

Btw, my older child ended up at Tennessee but we visited LSU and liked it. My 2nd child will likely apply also.

Hi all - any thoughts on going to visit lsu for accepted students day vs regular campus tour?

Hi! YES! We are planning to take our second trip there in a few weeks… We took the tour almost a year ago, so now that he’s in, he’d like to see it again to make sure. He’s been accepted to a few schools, but LSU really stuck with him.:+1:t2:

We have found that visiting on a designated day (at other schools) that runs from 9-3 offers so much more info on degree programs and opportunities than just taking a 90-min campus tour. The tours do not touch on degree specifics or other program options.

For those who applied OOS and already received an admissions decision, were there any merit scholarships given considering the applicant was OOS? If so, was it a decent amount of aid? I’ve been considering LSU but one of the main things holding me back is the out of state tuition.

My D25 OOS received $13k. With that merit $ it’s now the same price as in state for us.

My D25 OOS received 15,000 a year, which brings it down to what our in state tuition is in NY.

Hi there! DD received an email that she received merit but where do we find her MyLSU account info to get on to see it? Thanks!

On the application portal, you should see an option to set up your MyLSU account. There was also an email that was sent to set up / log into the LSU Workday account, and scholarship info is populated there.
