I am disappointed in the show. I can’t relate to the ladies as I could ti done of them on wntw
^me too, missypie. Just watched tonight for the first time. I can’t relate to the women at all. I liked that I could pick up tips on WNTW. Don’t think I’ll be picking up any tips with this show!
I just checked out the show online, and agree that it is not relatable, at least not to me. Nor is there anything surprising about the transformation – you take someone with counterculture hair, makeup and clothing, swap everything out for mainstream styling, and they look – well, more mainstream. A big yawn. Plus, after “a whole new wardrobe!” on What Not To Wear, a single outfit is underwhelming (or maybe I missed something about this part of the show). Anyway, Stacy’s terrific but the show’s a stinker.
I wish they had a model someplace in between. I like the calmer pace of this and more personal, intimate feel. I like that she focuses on the inner story. It does feel like there are missing steps, though and it needs something more.
Half an hour is too short to really get to know and understand the person. And, as someone else said, seeing only one decent outfit isn’t enough. I’m not sure the makeover will “take.”
It looks like tonight they are having an hour long recap to follow up with some people
One of my Facebook friends – by no means a close friend; more of an acquaintance – posted tonight that her sister-in-law is on LLR. I ran to turn the show on and was horrified by what I saw! Really, where do they find these people?!
Did anyone watch the woman who dressed like a 1940s pin-up girl? What was she thinking??
She was thinking that it was a way to showcase her curves and be creative (she is a makeup artist). It just got out of hand so she didn’t know how to do anything else.
And the “burlesque” look was a way to make being heavier feel voluptuous and OK. As she said, it’s better than feeling dumpy and invisible and just hiding.
What Not To Wear was must see TV for us for a while but by the end it just seemed like everyone was put into dark wash denim and a blazer. This show is a little too contrived for me and the make-unders are easy. Take off the costume, basically.
I would like to see Stacy make over the handlers on the Westminster dog show. They all seem to be stuck in the 8os.
Yes, yes and yes!! Whenever DH and I watch the show, I always comment on how the women handlers are dressed: Flat, frumpy shoes that don’t do their calves any favors, skirt suits that don’t fit very well, and hairstyles that were old in the 1970s.
I always assumed they are more interested in dogs than people.
But totally agree that Stacey needs to branch out from the goofy costumed people to others whose looks need help, but are not so much in the “Run” category.
Also, the repeated viewing of women taking off their off-putting makeup and costumes and then crying and not being able to bear to look at themselves is just too heartbreaking. These women need therapy, not just a new outfit and hairdo.
