Low Freshman Grades, Upward Trend, Tough Schools. (I'll chance back)

I won’t dance around it. Freshman year was rough for me. I don’t really have a good reason (close family friend passed away, lack of motivation), but I really feel that I’ve made an effort to turn things around. Here are my unweighted averages (given out of 100, as unfortunately my school refuses to tell us our GPA, weighed or unweighted… If anyone wants to give me an idea of my GPA on a 4.0 scale, that’d be awesome haha):
Frosh (honors 1, one honors): 85.9
Soph (honors and honors 1): 91.5
Junior (APUSH, honors 1, 1 honors, 1 CP1 (freshman year math prevented me from taking anything else or moving up)): 92.5

Next year, as a senior, I’ll be taking AP Lit, AP Stats, and AP Gov as my school only allows 3 APs per year (most of which are only available as a senior). I’m in the third decile, unfortunately, due to my freshman year grades, but my school does not believe in ranking:/

SAT: 2120 (690 CR, 640 M, 790 W)
ACT: 32 (but planning to take again)

As far as extracurriculars go:
Animal Rights Council (Presdient)
A Capella (Board of Directors)
St. Vincent de Paul Society
Fencing (Varsity)
Liturgical Choir
Chorus
Theatre (both in and outside of school)
Campus Ministry

National Honor Society
Science Honor Society
Tri-M Honor Society
History Honor Society
Latin Honor Society

Volunteering/Jobs:
-ESL summer camp counsellor (50 hours)
-religious education teacher (60 hours)
-local religious organization (100+ hours)
-local elementary school (30 hours)
Middle School Tutor

My top schools:

Safety:
Saint Michael’s College

Potential Major: English/ Environmental Studies

I think I’ve covered everything. Thanks to anyone and everyone who takes the time to read through this and chance me:)

I think your ECs are great and your gpa is on a solid upward trend. Retaking the act sounds like a good plan. I think you have what it takes for these colleges. I think your volunteering background would look even better applying to liberal arts schools also which seem to align with your choices of major. Chance me back?

you’re set for Smith if you do ED bc you have fantastic test scores (esp for a test optional school). you have exception ECs - sports + volunteering = fantastic. you have lots of awards, which is good, and you are super well rounded. You are definitely IN for mhc and dickinson, RD. don’t know much about the rest, so can’t chance you for those.

you don’t really need to retake your standardized tests if these are the only schools you are considering, but you can take them again for peace of mind if you like. consider some reaches as well to ED, bc you have a fair chance at everything you’ve listed and don’t need to ED at any of them really: wellesley, hamilton, w&m,colgate

*exceptional ECs. Anyways, don’t stress and write a good college essay. You’re in for most of these schools

You have a 3.5 GPA, and I do think you have a good chance at all of them. Just follow what shielapathukare said.
