Low GPA and Fairly High LSAT's

University of Nevada Honors Program- 3.35 GPA
171 LSAT

What would be some good target schools?

I hate these threads, do some research, you’ll need it for law school.

lawschoolnumbers.com
lawschoolpredictor.com

Your Top State school

If she’s from nevada, no UNLV should not be the target. And most states should not be the target with that LSAT. So many people are completely uninformed and post on here.

If shes gonna work in Nevada, their state school is the best option. She should shoot for the t14 if she doesnt wanna work in Nevada. The only thing the T14 gives you is options outside of your home. I dont think she’ll get into a T14 with that GPA though. If she plans on working in Nevada she’ll get a job from their top state school…

Patriot, you must be one of those people who want to leave their state?

and lol UNLV is just the name of one of their schools.

If you’re like me and you wanna stay in the same state, your top state school is a good option.

With a 171, she will, without a doubt, get into at least one t14.

You kidding me? A 171 does not guarantee anything, especially these last couple years in LS admissions.

a 171 3.3-3.4, every single person last year on LSN was admitted to a t14. Of course nothing is 100% certain, but it’s in the extremely likely scenario, especially with a ED to UVA or NW.

btw, am I the only one I this website who has ever done any research before posting?

Well look at it this way, does she want a scholarship???

everyone uses LSN on here. She want get in H/Y/S though. She doesnt have to go to a T14 to get a job

5 is completely insane. If you want a job in a particular market, it is NOT the case that you should always prefer the top school in that market. I suspect that most Vegas-based firms would be perfectly happy with a T-14 candidate, and that they would be thrilled to hire from UCLA, USC, etc. as well – and in fact would probably prefer them to UNLV candidates with equivalent grades.

wont*

Well if you live in Texas like me, your top state school is a great choice.(UT-15)

@BlueDevilMike

Most people end up working where they went to school. Im pretty sure a UCLA grad wants to work in LA. If you have good grades you’ll find a job. Of course they would probably prefer that candidate, because of their school. You have better networking options if you go to school where you want to work.

Could UC Hastings be a safe target at all?

Yes. That’s aiming too low, even for a safe target.

What about my chances at USC? I’m just worried because my GPA is so low

chickla , go lawschoolnumber . com and find USC

Either way, an application is worth it as you have some shot.
