Low GPA and high SAT score

ok so I am like freaking out. I am already done with junior year and my gpa is not amazing…its like 3.4 unweighted or something. Maybe even 3.3 idk. Hypothetically, lets just say I get a 1500 on the next SAT. What are my chances for these schools?
UGA
Penn State
Ga Tech
Clemson
UCLA
Plus, what schools recalculate your gpa? Im pretty sure GA tech does.

UCLA is very GPA focused so getting high tests scores do not make up for a lack luster GPA, unless you have a compelling reason for the lower grades.

You need to calculate your UC GPA (10-11th grades): https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
UCLA will use the UW UC GPA, capped weighted UC GPA and fully weighted UC GPA.

If in-state, then UC approved Honors/AP/IB and DE courses count for the extra Honors points.
If OOS, only AP/IB and DE courses (taken 10-11th) count for the extra honors points.

Here is the a-g course list for UCLA and the other UC’s:
http://www.ucop.edu/agguide/a-g-requirements/

This will give you an idea of your chances based on GPA:

Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79:

UCB: 2%
UCLA: 3%
UCSD: 6%
UCD: 15%
UCSB: 14%
UCI: 13%
UCSC: 59%
UCR: 78%
UCM: 92%

The schools you listed were all public, and public schools tend to be very GPA focused. I would suggest you look more at privates as well. At many privates, test scores above the 75th percentile can bridge the gap for a low GPA.

I have a friend who is actually and extreme example of this, he had a 2.9 UW/3.3 W and 33 ACT. He will be attending American University this fall whereas the other kids at my school with similar GPAs and 50th percentile SAT scores couldn’t get into anything above a 2nd/3rd tier state school (not our state flagship) or a small, mediocre private school.

To chance you on the schools you asked about, assuming you’re OOS and have a 1500 SAT:
UGA - match
Penn State - high safety
Ga Tech - high match/low reach
Clemson - match
UCLA - high reach

If you can’t pay the sticker price as well, I advise you to look more into privates, because state schools can be prohibitively expensive as they offer little financial aid to OOS students.

If you have a 3.4 UW but a 4.5 (out of 4) Weighted, that isn’t too bad. But if your GPA is 3.4W and 3.8W you are kinda screwed on that front.

But the SAT should help you a bit.
