Low GPA but High SAT?

HELP guys. I just found out that my Unweighted GPA was 3.495… This is extremely low, I know, but I got to a hard Public school. If i get a 2250 SAT score, is there a chance for me going to colleges like Amherst, Boston College and UNC? My EC’s are pretty weak - 9th Grade Orchestra, participant in Brain Bee competition, MUN for 4 years (no exec board), Waksman for 4 years (1 year exec), 100+ hours of community service, rec basketball.

Unless you’re planning on applying to nothing but Ivies (which I do not recommend doing), 3.4 is not too terribly low. If you’re really worried about it though, just get some more extra curriculars, maybe a leadership position, and those along with your test scores should balance out your “low” grade point average.

Amherst: Reach
BC: High match
UNC: High match (OOS)/Match (in-state)

Get yourself a safety!

If your GPA is between 25% and 50% of admission stat, try to get your SAT score at least above the 75 percentile of admission.
