So, I have a GPA of around 3.3, but my SAT score is a 1490. I transferred sophomore year from a really difficult private school to a public school that’s still top-ranked, but it’s not that hard, so my GPA has an upward trend from freshman year, starting with a 2.8 and then having a 3.85 in junior year. I want to apply to accelerated medical programs, but I understand that my GPA is low. Am I still competitive for schools like NJIT, UW, Washington & Lee, Stony Brook, etc? How would my application look to colleges?
This is late, but your application, regardless of what others may say, will be considered weak. Your transcript is screened first to determine your candidacy. A so-so SAT 1 or SAT 2 score may be given a wink, but GPA and transcript- not at all. Sorry, but I am trying to be candid as possible.
Note this is for competitive schools, but for many other excellent schools, you would be a great canditate. They may sway you in with some merit scholarships.
