Low GPA engineer?

2.5 GPA (unheard of on CC?)
No school ranking
School is top 50 in country

2100 SAT
33 ACT with 36 in science
No AP’s as placement based on previous grades, couldn’t take them if I tried.

Good recs
Editor of school Physics Journal
Worked in construction for Stage Crew
President of school Music Club
Volunteer at after school program watching kids

Applying to Fordham, NYU Poly, UBuffalo, Stony Brook, Northeastern, and some CUNYs as safeties
Could use some more schools if anyone knows any
Physics/Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering

Also:
Race is Black/Caribbean
First choice Is Fordham for 3-2 program with Columbia
I’ve gone to events and open houses for NYU and Fordham

What happened that your gpa is a 2.5?

I just didn’t apply myself. I realize now how stupid that was, but there’s nothing I can do at this point.

Fordham, NYU, and Northeastern seem unrealistic. You have to remember that GPA is the most important thing when it comes to college admissions and yours is lacking. Also remember that a high score on the SAT/ACT and a low GPA implies laziness.

Low GPA engineer is like eating tofu with chop sticks.

I think it is best to go to a community college and then go on to the aforementionned schools.

Bear in mind that a billion people in China eat their tofu with chopsticks every day. Smart-but-lazy in high school makes it hard to get into college, but lazy can be changed.

Love your safety, find your motivation, have a rockstar transfer app.

I agree with Catia, two years of community college and then transferring will probably be your best bet. You can save money and build up a stronger academic record then the one you have right now…
