Assuming all Rec’s are good.
Essays will be excellent.

@buzat12: Although you have not specifically asked, I presume this thread’s intent is to assess your probability of Duke undergraduate admission.

You GPA is a serious negative, notwithstanding the improving trend. The remainder of your resume is competitive, but not exceptionally so (and with only a ~10 percent acceptance rate – appreciably less in RD – a LOT of outstanding candidates are necessarily denied). In aggregate, I believe you’re likely an “extreme reach.” However, I’d offer a suggestion: use your essays to explain – with candor, sincerity, accountability and insight – both why your early grades were comparatively poor and how you improved the overall pattern during the last years. The goal of this essay would be implicitly to suggest to the Duke Admissions Reader that your ~3.25 u/w GPA should not result in immediate rejection.

Good luck.

@Twojesnny: It is my opinion that you’re a strong candidate. Further, I suspect a LOT will depend on your essays and recommendations, since your primary credentials – GPA, standardized test scores, ECs, etc. – are VERY good, but so too are literally tens-of-thousands of other truly distinguished applicants. I sincerely wish you good luck!
