low GPA, is it ok?

so my GPA for my first freshman semester is looking to come in at around a 2.7-2.9 area. mostly thats because i took a math and science course, neither of which are major requirements just general education requirements. i never have to take another math or science major for my major so my GPA will go up, but is it ok to have somewhat of a low GPA for my first semester?

yes, it’s fine.

honestly though… what would you do if the answer was “no”? Can’t change it now… I mean, obviously, the higher the better… but you’ll be fine.

The lower the better.

Is it okay? No, not really. Is it common? Very. I wouldn’t worry that much about it, since you’ve got 3.5 more years to pull it up.

C’s get degrees…
B’s get Ph.D.s…

In all seriousness, though, what’s happened to you is fairly common. If you’re going for a graduate or professional school, you’ll want to make sure this is the only semester you get below a B/B+ average, but otherwise no biggie – you can bring it up!

D’s get STD’s…

Heh.
