Low GPA w/ High Scores Looking to ED Bates [NV resident, 3.48 GPA, 35 ACT]

OP, a lot of the schools that others (including me) have suggested on this thread will offer all or most of these advantages. I’m not sure what you liked specifically about the Bates schedule, but if has anything to do with May term, there are other schools that offer something similar (more commonly in January than in May, but still). Otherwise, Bates has a typical semester schedule. As to the other strengths you mentioned – community engagement, opportunities for exploration – a lot of LACs offer these. Some may have more or less extensive general studies requirements, but none will require you to pick a major before spring semester sophomore year, so exploration is expected. As far as location is concerned – true, there aren’t too many schools in Maine, but there are others around the country with their own advantages.

Sure, shoot your shot, but be realistic and let us help you find other exciting options. I should also note that if you really are on an upward trajectory and are doing well in your senior year, you might want to wait to EDII so you can include this semester’s grades, which could underscore the point that sophomore year was not characteristic of your abilities.
