Low GPA, what can I do?

Hi everyone I’m planning on applying to UCI 2012 as a 4th year undergrad.

Right now my GPA is verrry low… 3.0gpa but that was mainly due to poor habits, choices, and lack of experiences, if that year was erased my GPA would shoot up to 3.3 or 3.4.

Would UCI cut me some slack if I tell them that?

Also if I somehow manage to write a great essay, will that have a large positive impact on my chances?

I have some EC’s and a part time job too if its something to boost my cause.

Thanks!

depend on ur major. Some impacted majors in UCI such as business, biochem…ect… with 3.0-3.3. chance are very low, near zero. If non impacted, u probably get admitted.
btw what is ur major? if u dont mind telling us.

its engineering… which makes it alot worst

To boost ur chance, must completed lower division requirements. (ALL). Completed prereqs always important; in addition, get ur butt ready to write a shocking, amazing, inspiring, exciting, outrageous, and a happy ending personal statement.

As far as i know, UCI, UCB, UCM, and UCLA are the only campuses that look at you with a personal statement.

UCR,UCSD,UCD,ect… personal statements not that important, but u still cant bullshXXX it lol.

try to stay above 3.0. if under, only god can help you lol.

CSU’s exist for a reason yall ;)

^ not everyone likes CSUs

Thanks for all your help ferrari!

I don’t mind CSU only if its CSU Pomona, but I just want UCI in the list as well since its another good school for engineers.

Impacted majors without TAG is going to be a lot harder. A friend of mine got rejected from UCI with a 3.9 GPA in Biochemistry because she didn’t TAG.
