can i get into any of the first tier national universities with a 2.5 first sem gpa? i dont like my where i am right now and i want to transfer out asap.

hs gpa: unknown because my school doesnt rank or give gpa

sat:

ecs:
varsity bball 9,10,12
varsity soccer 11,12
varsity badminton 10,11
varsity volleyball 9,10

amnesty club 11,12
honor roll 11
band 9

work experience:

summer job at uncles office

btw, if they see youve made improvement in a certain area, will they give that extra consideration.

there’s no way to get into a first tier with a 2.5. especially without a hs gpa.
sorry. 3.0 is generally the cutoff, and the lack of hs gpa will not be good since most will look 50/50 at hs/college

wow…that’s the first time i’ve heard that a h.s. doesn’t give out grades…weird.

anyways, you seem like a very athletic person…look into athletic-appreciative colleges.

[just a suggestion: why don’t you go to a community college for a couple of years and transfer from there…get a good GPA and you should be off to a good college…think about it.]

And about your improvement question, the answer is yes…definitely–but only if it is a very significant improvement.

thanks for the advice…i know its really pushing it but if it helps im currently in a 4th tier national university in the business program and im aiming for public schools like UIUC and U Washington. as for the improvement, i jumped from a 40% in hs to a C+ last semester in calculus and english jumped from a 70% in hs to an A last semester.

anyone??? more comments/advice??? i know its kinda obvious what my odds…any sort of advice/help/information would help me out a lot, especially personal experience where decent schools still accepted academically average/mediocre students based on other criteria such as ecs and essay

im so confused. your only academic numbers are 1660 and 2.5 which won’t put you in any top-tier institution. try getting a 4.0 the next 2 semesters and then transfer.
