Hello, okay so my GPA is 2.99- rough junior year (was homeless-will be explain in counselors recommendation), and I’m looking to go to a small LAC far away from home. I’m just not sure there would be any LAC willing to accept me. I score around a 28-31 on the ACT and have amazing EC’s (started my own online magazine, etc) I’m just looking for suggestions to schools that might overlook my low GPA

There are many small LACs which will accept you. The question is what can you afford, particularly if you were homeless. Those schools that will meet need are also the most competitive for entry.

Oxford College of Emory University is a need blind full need small LAC (two years at Oxford, then 2 years at the much larger main Emory campus)l. While it’s getting increasingly selective, you might have a chance of admission because of the whole homeless angle. What is your actual ACT score and how much is your EFC? I’m assuming it’s $0, but if your family kicked you out, that’s different.

You might also want to consider Willamette [Financial Aid: How We Award Scholarships and Financial Aid | Willamette University](http://www.willamette.edu/dept/finaid/prospective/how_award/index.html) as they give good aid to students whose scores (not necessarily GPA) fall in the top quartile of applicants

[Best Values in Private Colleges, 2012-13](<a href=“Kiplinger | Personal Finance News, Investing Advice, Business Forecasts”>Kiplinger | Personal Finance News, Investing Advice, Business Forecasts)=ALL&id=none

Use the info in this table to identify schools generous with FA, then use the SuperMatch search engine here on CC to identify schools you can get into with your GPA and test scores (using any other criteria that matter to you such as location, size etc.).

Albright College in Reading PA is need blind and has recently announced to meet 100% of financial need based upon the FAFSA (no CSS Profile). Rolling admissions.

Avg GPA 2.91 - 3.74
ACT 19-25

There are many LACs that will accept your stats. Your difficulty will be affording the school since many LACs are private.

Some of the colleges in the COPLAC list are likely not very selective:
[COPLAC | Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges](http://www.coplac.org)

However, even though some of them are inexpensive, they may still be out of reach financially if you have close to $0 to contribute from yourself and parents/relatives, due to often minimal-to-nonexistent out-of-state financial aid (but you can check their net price calculators anyway).

Flagler College in St. Augustine Florida. They like ECs and your ACT score is above their range.
