Will a bad math score kill my chances at a good college? Johns Hopkins/Vanderbilt are my reaches, Tulane’s my match probably (GPA 3.7, lots of extracurriculars)

March SAT Scores:

800 CR
780 Writing
650 Math

December SAT Scores

780 CR
670 Math
700 Writing

1450 Combined CR/Math both times

Will it kill your chances? No. Will it put a crimp in them? Probably, especially at your reach schools. I’m assuming you did some additional prep before the March test, so I know you’re disappointed your math score didn’t budge! If you can swing it, you’d probably get a lot of help from working with a good tutor. A tutor can help with nailing down what your weak spots are, and correct any gaps in your math skills. Good luck!
