My child has taken the SAT a couple of times and has only achieved around 1000. Unfortunately, she has been ill on each test taken. She has been accepted into a few colleges of her choice, but because of the low SAT, she does not qualify for scholarships offered at her schools. Her GPA is @3.5. Should we have included a statement with our applications explaining the illnesses? I wonder if this might have helped in the financial aid packages being offered.

1000 composite? so she got basically 350,350, and 300 on each section? because that would be really bad. my option would be taking a gap year and re-taking the SAT every month like i did and getting an amazing score. SAT play a colossal part in decisions, especially for domestic applicants. international applicants, not so much.

I’m guessing (hoping) you mean 1000, the old score. Which isn’t very good either. You definitely should have explained the illnesses somewhere.
