which one do you think gives a higher chance of acceptance:

applying early with a lower SAT score or applying regularly with higher scores (~100 points more than the last one) ?

EA is virtually no edge at Stanford. Higher scores probably therefore more important.

but if EA indicates a commitment to the U and also has a smaller applicants pool (than the regular one) doesn’t that mean that it’s more probable to get accepted through EA that RA?

No; the Stanford EA pool is extremely self-selective. Moreover, Stanford outwardly rejects much more applicants in the early stages than other schools. There is no tangible advantage, especially if your scores would otherwise improve in the extra time given.

^ What if you are a legacy? I heard somewhere that showing the school it is your first choice helps.

If you think you can improve your score by 100 points for reg. decision, definitely apply reg. decision.

Legacy (unless wealthy) is of negligible value.
