Hey, I’m not sure about this but I hear international students aren’t expected to have super high SAT scores, I got 2000 (630 CR, 710 M, 660 W) and I know it isn’t amazing, esp for Stern, but I’d say I was top 5-10% in my school.

For some reason the smartest chick in my grade only got 2040 too and she’s like genius. I know some international kids still do amazing, but do you know if we’re not expected to do as well?

Random question but would appreciate any responses. Thanks!

Well, I’m an international student and I didn’t do as well as I’ll liked to. The SATs’ format is entirely different from what I’m used to, which would writing essays, essays and more essays during national examinations.

And it was quite a shock for me too, when I realized that for Literature in SAT Subject Tests, there are actually 5 options for you to choose from. One thing I learnt from teachers in school that there’s never a wrong answer for Literature. D :

@FreedomOverdose, That’s why the Literature component didn’t go as well as I’ll like it to in the SAT Subject Tests, whereas I had an A for Literature in the A Levels.

So, I’ll say practice practice practice. Make the foreign exam format familiar, I guess. Thing is, I just took the SATs once and submitted it for fun. Got accepted at NYU, BU. And it’s definitely not thanks to my less than stellar SAT scores.

Well I’m from Singapore, and my SAT IIs weren’t very good (by Singaporean standards - actually I think I’m bottom 10% in my school with my SAT II Math score)

SAT I

Critical Reading - 800
Math - 800
Writing - 720

SAT II

Literature - 730
Math (Level II) - 730

And I got into NYU, so… I really don’t know? It should depend on the country, generally in my school if you get below 700 for anything, you fail. Haha.

Nope, precisely why I’m not going there haha. I got into the Presidential Honors Scholars Prog too, but without the money it’s really impossible for me. I’m devastated, lol.
