wow…thats ridiculous. god, I’m so scared… actually i’m not. I’m 99.999% positive i’ll be rejected. Seriously, I’m one of 4 applying SCEA from my school. and it sucks b/c i’m good friends with all of them-and they are all much smarter than me. yucky

well its time to say “so long” to all my dreams of Stanford and Cali. actually not Cali, who knows if Berkeley will pan out. There are other schools for me, i already got into UW Madison which is an awsome school. It was fun trying, but I feel like its a lost cause for me. I know I’m smart, but I’m not smart enough to make the cut. Awsome job guys…I’m sure most everyone will get in. I’ll still hang around the Stanford board, so we can keep in touch.

Good luck!

-i’m probably going to keep checking the boards , becasue its become a habit now. I’ll let you know when i find out for sure from Stanford.

PERSONALITY is VERY VERY important. and background. Theres trillions of kids who are “captains of quizbowls” with 1450+s and stuff. But its who you are as a PERSON that matters. People need to start realizing this. that your scores and stats and ECs can only take you so far. Personality is amazingly important.

“Theres trillions of kids who are “captains of quizbowls” with 1450+s and stuff.”

HEY! I have a 1450+, and have been quiz bowl captain for the past three years! And realy, I love being quiz bowl captain, and it’s one of my favorite ECs, we even won a tournament earlier this fall!

But I’d also be really disappointed if someone told me I didn’t have a personality. And I think my essays, and to a greater extent, my teacher/counselor recs, show this about me. So please, just because someone is a quiz bowl captain doesn’t mean that he lacks social skills, studies all day and night, and is never willing to relax!

(Sorry for the vent, irock, I just do not want to see myself fit that stereotype.)

college_hopeful - oh i totally understand what your saying dude. but im just using one thing to show tat it takes people with personality and often… someone who overcame something in their lives to get there.

aim78 - thats the way to think about it. of course. thats why all those kids with the 1500+s are getting rejected over in columbia while 2 <1400 and many MANY 1400-1500 were accepted… of course. colleges wnat nobel prizes. not to build a class.

i’ve heard that stanford, especially, is very very specific and particular with the people they admit. they seem to pick out the people who have this amazing drive to succeed in life, and all these other great applicants with really good qualifications, academic and otherwise, get rejected. i’ve heard so many ppl say how “weird” stanford is with admission compared to other places, and ppl that have gone there as undergraduates tell me they pick based very much on the personality that comes thru… i think the nobel prize way of thinking is really good. that seems to be exactly what they’re looking for
