LS peer learning schedule conflicts, what to do?

My LS just announced peer learning schedules, they conflict with my class schedules. Am I going to learn less if I can’t enroll peer learning? Do most people take peer learning?

Most people don’t attend and do just fine in class. If you need a tutor, there are other options available.

Really? I guess I am worried if it will be significant loss if I don’t attend or I will have less chances to get an A if not attending peer learning. Will have a chance to get the handout or notes from peer learning if I can’t have time for it?

What are other options available???

You could find a private tutor. There are flyers for them around campus.

I know many people who got A’s in LS without attending peer learning or having any tutoring. The one person I know who does go to peer learning doesn’t do very well. Take that as you will.

In general, you cannot just get notes from the peer sessions. They are made by the individual facilitators for their peers, not for widespread distribution to everyone. The peer sessions can be great for reviewing material, but their job is not to make you learn anything. What you need to learn should be from lecture. Discussion sections and these peer sessions are for additional help. You have no less chances of earning an A if you do not attend the peer sessions. The peer learning is not a “magic A” or automatic grade boost just because you attend. You can achieve a better or worse grade all by yourself from studying individually or in groups, or with a private tutor.
