LSE General Course vs. UCL

I got an offer to study a year abroad at LSE. I was wondering if anybody form CC has been abroad and could share some experiences? Would you go there again?
Also, I got an offer from UCL too and although I do consider LSE better for my subjects (Econ&PoliSci) I was wondering if it really matters where I go? What is the difference between the two unis?
In general, is it hard to make friends in the UK? I heard some bad things about the big anonymity of London and how people don’t get to know anybody, partly because everybody is so serious about studying. Do general course students hang out with other general course students or are they integrated in university life?

Thanks guys,
soWhat?

I wouldn’t say LSE is really that much better, UCL’s econ dept is very well regarded. The major difference between the two I think is that the LSE has a rep for very serious and unsociable students, whereas UCL does not. If you’re looking for a purely academic experience go to the LSE; if you want to have some fun inbetween studying hard go to UCL.

Not hard to make fiends, quite the reverse in my experience. Join a couple of student societies and go to their events and you’ll meet plenty of new people.

at abroad101 you can read the reviews and experiences from other students to figure out if you’re interested.

Here’s the one for UCL: [Study Abroad Program Reviews of Direct Enrollment: London - University College London (UCL) | Abroad101](http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/programs/direct-enrollment-london-university-college-london-ucl)

Thanks, anybody can confirm this about UCL and LSE. I certainly want not work my ass off and screw my GPA. Has UCL or LSE more lenient grading?

With an attitude like that I suggest you don’t go to either. All of UCL’s and LSE’s classes will be difficult and require a great deal of effort on your part, you won’t be allowed to coast through and maintain a good grade.

lol, I go to a good school in the US and when I say I don’t want to work too hard, I mean i want to maintain a 50-60 hour week.

if you’re doing economics I’m not sure how you don’t know that LSE is where its at for that. They produce nobel laureates, ceo’s, presidents comparable to an Ivy, I don’t think UCL can say the same. But if the social aspect of it is what you are dwelling on then I would say don’t bother with LSE, you aren’t deserving of going there anyways if that’s the case.
