I’m doing Chinese as one of my Area Studies and I was thinking of taking the following course to fulfill one of the upper division requirements:

LTEA 120A. Chinese Films (4)

A survey of representative films from different periods of Chinese cinematic development. Priority may be given to Chinese Studies majors and Literature majors. Repeatable for credit when topics vary.

Has anyone who has ever taken this class (or a similar one) one tell me what it’s like? I noticed the class has normal lectures and a 3 hour block, which I assume is reserved for watching movies? Is that what it means by “survey”? I noticed that on CAPE, the average number of study/hw hrs spent per week on this class ranges from 4-6 hrs, which seems a bit much to me for a class like this.
