Lucky Day Thread

Today I won two tickets to a DU hockey game. I’m excited as they are ranked 4th, games are sold out and very exciting.

What have you won recently?

I won a $2 bet I made with my brother on whether or not we’d see any measurable snow this winter. That’s about it.

But, congratulations to you! Enjoy the game.

This thread just reminded me to cash in the scratch off ticket I received for Christmas - $25!

My name was pulled for a raffle and I got a $20 gift card to Dunkin yesterday!

Even though I’m not drinking until March, I lucked into 3 very hard to find bottles of bourbon at actual retail prices, not CRAZY traditional mark ups.

Wordle on the first guess. Does that count?

Me too! Wordle on the first guess. I started with “north” and that was it. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket or something.

We hoped our parents’ assets would cover their expenses as they aged. To our surprise, they left a nice inheritance for all of us surviving children to share. It was quite unexpected.

Since starting this thread I’ve ‘won’ (all I had to do was sign up) tickets to the Prime Video (on Prime starting today) at the movie theater of Upgraded (it is The Devil Wears Prada but with a girl working as an intern for an art auction house) with free popcorn and soda and it was in my neighborhood, so I considered it a win.

Also tickets to the DU lacrosse game tomorrow but there is supposed to be 3 to 6 inches of snow, so I doubt i’ll go.

I love to win things!

I thought I’d have to go to Chinatown to finish my Chinese New Year shopping (budding flowers, treats to be sent to daughter and son-in-law and of course for me!, and soup dumplings) but I found everything at the original, best-stocked Trader Joe’s at Union Square, Manhattan. Ordered Year of the Dragon stamps so cards will wait for next week. And what a beautiful day back here in Brooklyn! That’s a win for me.

Today, we went to a nice lunch at my niece & nephew in law’s with the extended family. It was especially poignant as they bought our parent’s home and have been busily making it their place. Or has a lot of happy memories for all of us. It’s a great, large space which is perfect for them and their baby and two large labradors.

While there, they were trying to donate ice chests and also a large toaster oven. Since our toaster oven is quite old and getting pretty rusty, I accepted a brand new, never used toaster oven (likely a prize from my dad’s golf tournament days) as well as a new small cooler suitable for a six pack or similar.

I donated our old (but still working) toaster oven to the neighbor who runs constant garage sales to help fund private tuition for her two special needs kids. Win/Win/Win!

I won about $150 at a trivia night in the 50/50. Paid for the night out :tada:

We just came in third in a trivia contest tonight and won a $10 giftcard to the restaurant, but (a) we had already paid the bill and (b) it is unlikely we will return. Its not conveniently located and too long of a drive to return (friend invited us to go there).

@jym626 - I would put the gift card on my Buy Nothing. Someone else can have a lucky day!

Or your friends who invited you!

That is what we are doing. The friends who invited us (couple #1) got sick and couldn’t go, so we went with the friends we were having breakfast with (couple #2) when I got the text that couple #1 were sick and had to cancel. The restaurant is a half hour drive from us, and frankly not worth the drive to return. So when I texted couple #1 to tell them we won $10 I told them I’d be giving the gift card to them.

I won $50 yesterday on the Super Bowl. I had the winning squares for the score at half time and the 3rd quarter.
