I am aware that the new cadets have their R-day luggage/bags locked up for future access. I am wondering what they use when traveling home on breaks. I think I remember reading something about USMA providing standard issue bags or something, or do they use their R-day bags. This will be helpful as considering something for a graduation gift.

My parents bought me luggage one Christmas, it’s a great idea. The USMA issued stuff is a rather flimsy gray garmet bag and green army duffles. Great for laundry and identifying other cadets at the airport, but not so stylish. If you do get your cadet something to take to R-Day, buy something SMALL. They can’t roll it and large pieces can be awkward. If you’re coming up for A day, have them pack the larger piece with 3-4 outfits. Something nice and dressy, jeans and khakis, favorite t-shirts, a good sweater, some cold weather gear, civilian shoes, and accessories. Bring it with you, and hand it off to them. They’ll have to stash it in the Trunk room, but it’ll be handy for any trip sections they have before Thanksgiving and Christmas.
