Lying about Community Service volunteering on UC application and now studying at UC

I need some advice about someone (let’s call him X) who lied about community service volunteering on his UC application for admission, was accepted and is currently a sophomore there.

So in Fall 2023, my “friend” X applied for admission to the U of C system for the Fall 2024 semester and was granted acceptance to UC Irvine, and is now a sophomore there. Now at that time we were the best of buddies so he sent me his application and essays for review. I noticed that in the Volunteer / Community service section, he mentioned volunteering in an NGO for 4 hours per week for 40 weeks while in Grade 10, which was a complete fabrication.

I brought this to his attention but he flippantly mentioned that it was a risk he was willing to take, so we let the matter rest there.

Now, fast forward to the present, and an issue arose between us where X horribly betrayed my trust and I think he may have forgotten that he emailed me his essays and application PDF for review.

Right now, I want my revenge for treachery committed upon me by X and am planning to report him to the university for lying on his application.

My question is what is the worst that can happen to him based on this misrepresentation?

My advice is to mind your own business on this. Sorry people suck sometimes, but you gain nothing from being vindictive. If you really had a problem with it, you wouldn’t have let it slide the first time. The best thing for you to do at this point is to learn something - maybe several things - from this experience.

Leave it alone. It will catch up to him in the end; you wont have to do anything about it.

Take the high road and be the more mature individual. If you try to get back at him, it’s going to hit you right back in the face. The university will see it as you showing “sour grapes.”

Don’t worry about it and move on.

The best answers have been given.

Since any opposing answer wouldn’t align with the mission of College Confidential, I see no value in keeping this thread open.
