Lyme Academy was recommended to our daughter, who is into representational art (think Da Vinci, Michaelangelo.).
Does anyone on this board have experience with this college? It is located in New Haven, CT http://lymeacademy.edu/ I was impressed by the quality of the art online, but it is very tiny. Right now, she is thinking of a summer program there - she’s only a rising junior.
I have a friend who’s going there and is really enthusiastic about it. It’s more of a craft school than a “college” from what I know, so your daughter should be interested more in the process of rendering hyper realistic pieces than the business of art. It’s neat. She should expect to get to know every single person there, so hopefully she’s into tight-knit communities. It’s not unlike a lot of grad schools - I have another friend who lives in an artist commune in California and it seems kinda similar. They seem like nice folks there!
I don’t know if this helps you but off the top of my head that’s all I’ve got. It’s a good place overall- you should at the very least visit it and get a feel for it.
