R u planning to go? just got off WL. wanting to know if it is really worth for $5500/online experience

Hey,

I am from India and will be a junior in the next year. I will apply to M&TSI as a sophomore at the end of this year so that I attend M&TSI next year. I heard it is pretty competitive so wanted to know what my chances are with these stats:

Unweighted GPA - 4.0/4.0

Standardized Tests - PSAT (freshman year) - 1400 (99 %ile)

MAIN INITIATIVE- Founded an organization that connects people to NGOs in my region via which they can volunteer to teach the underprivileged. People can also donate books, money, and other such things related to education for the underprivileged.

ECs - Part of school technology club; captain of my school’s basketball team; 4 muns; attended AI Inspirit 2019 (Stanford students’ camp); multivariate calculus and linear algebra on Coursera; shot put bronze and discuss gold.

Awards - stood in top 300 in India in competitive programming; awarded winners certificate in BRICS online math competition for scoring a 70/70; subject excellence awards in 8 subjects through school;

What are my chances?

OK M&TSI just ended yesterday. @sammng totally disagree with your earlier comment back in spring… farthest thing for “garbage” there could be. It was challenging and awesome! Obviously would have been better on campus for all the social reasons, but it was an exceptional experience, one of the best things I have ever done. The professors and TAs were amazing, projects were mind-blowing, and the other students (there were 95) are now my best friends! So glad I did it, worth every $. Good luck to everyone with all that is going on. And if you didnt get in as a junior, try again. It will be worth it! Also, Upenn admissions spoke to us and basically said that although it’s downplayed, M&TSI is definitely a hook for Penn admissions.
