50-75 students each year. Probably the same this year I’d imagine. They wouldn’t want to disrupt the close knit community of the summer program so they’d stick to the small cohort. Usually 10% acceptance rate said a 2018 M&TSI Alum.
AIya, your essays, passion, and your video has more to do with acceptance I feel.
they do
Do they usually move people off the waitlist? If so, is the waitlist ordered or is it random?
Actually, I think Launch X great compared to M&TSI, especially with M&TSI going online. Launch X has retained competitive admits.
From several friends who have worked there, the administration has been doing a crap job at LaunchX the past two years. They’ve overexpanded to the point that they can’t deliver quality education anymore; the instructors have decreased in quality for sure as they can’t secure good speakers and educators.
They’re more focused on profit than quality; it’s not fun either said numerous students the past two years. Check out their facebook page. Just ask any recent student; it’s a load of crap said 20+ of my friends who went.
The LaunchX high school program went bankrupt, what does that say about LaunchX in general? A lot.
Also, admit rates have not remained competitive. There’s a reason why they release the cumulative acceptance rate over the 7 years; in the past two years, admit rates have skyrocketed due to expanding locations and program sizes which sounds good, but again quantity should not be prioritized over quality…
This… I have heard the same about LaunchX. it has lost its cache at top schools…no longer exclusive etc. If comparing to M&TSI, there is no comparison which is more competitive to be accepted etc.
Does anyone know the curriculum / how the program is still going to be run given that it’s going virtual?
Did everyone rejected from M&TSI get the email on the new online program that they’re offering?
@waffler When did you get this and what did it say?
today, they will announce more details by Apr 24.
lol this program is actually garbage this year. a lot of the activities with M&TSI are hands-on engineering related and visits to corporations. None of that is there this year, and they are just in it for the revenue. I would suggest finding a summer research internship (virtual) over this mess.

Does anyone have information how the online program is designed ? Those who are going have they received any updates like how many hours a day they are going to teach on line and work to do? On waiting list and not sure if will get in on 15th May when they said they will let us know
Full time classes all day… will probably be skewed a bit later to start each day because of so many west-coasters. They are not releasing schedule until after registration deadline but there was a big zoom meeting and orientation and they seem super committed to make it a full experience. I got the impression classes will be 6-7 hrs/per day for the first 2 weeks, and then the third week working on the project with team.
thank you. Have you been selected?
thank you. Have you been selected?
Yes.
I just got a letter that I got in, super excited.
I am pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Management and Technology Summer Institute (M&TSI): 3 Weeks: Jul 5-Jul 25 at The University of Pennsylvania. Congratulations, and welcome to Penn!
In light of the public health crisis, we have decided to offer the M&TSI program virtually for this summer.
Can I pm one of you who is planning to go? I want to be sure it is worth $$$$$$$ and of course the 3 Credits. Are they still keeping numbers to 50-75 or is it open for everyone who was on waiting list? Thanks
