I am going to be taking M119 next semester and the textbook cost about $120. i was wondering if I will actually need my own book next semester or if i can borrow from someone else? i bought the finite book for this past semester and didn’t end up using it at all so I don’t want to do that again.

I just finished with M119. I would actually recommend getting the book-there are a lot of practice problems and detailed explanations of the problems that are similar to the WebWork problems (online homework). While you don’t NEED it, I did find myself opening it more than I thought I would.

Definitely buy it used online though--half.com or amazon will have much, much better prices than the IU bookstore. A few people that I know also used chegg.com and rented their books-they came in good condition and for a good price! You won’t need to highlight, write, etc in the calc book, so that could be a good option.

The only book M119 uses at IU is “Applied Mathmatics”, 3rd edition. For some reason, the book is well over $100 at the IU bookstore. But it is only 59 dollars used at TIS (check their website; get the ISBN and post it into you Amazon textbook search to buy it from Amazon, so that you get the right book; ISBN numbers are unique) and 79 dollars new at TIS. You can get this book used and mailed to you (3.99 postage) from Amazon.Com for forty to fifty dollars. I bought the book through Amazon for fifty dollars in August and my son just sold it last week at the book buyback at the IU bookstore at Eigennman for fifty dollars.
