MAC 2233 and MAC 2311

Has anyone taken these classes? If so, does the professor expect you to know some calculus, or does he/she teach it from the basics? (eg. limits)

Hard/easy class?

i took mac2311 over the summer last year… it was extremely hard since it’s a 5 credit class that is taught across the whole summer, so it’s a lot of new info to take in, because it’s pretty much a new way of thinking that you have to get used to. and they shouldn’t expect you to know about limits… i didn’t know anything about calculus beforehand, but i remember some people in my class knowing about limits.

which do you intend on taking? and for what?

no calculus is presumed. here is this semesters syllabus: http://www.math.ufl.edu/~jysmith/MAC2311/studentguides10.pdf</a>
prerequisites are listed on the second page. if you’ve already taken calc I and have credit, you’re much better off going straight into calc II
