We are having a hard time finding average high school GPA for Macalester admits. Of course Early Decisions will be higher than regular, but do you care to share your admits Weighted and Unweighted GPAs as well as total number of non A courses on their transcript?
According to SchooLinks data for students from the Chicago area, the average GPA of accepted students is 3.87 uw, 4.97 w. Keep in mind this is district data, not national data. If you have access to SchooLinks or Naviance, you might want to check your child’s own regional data.
Do you have a class rank? Not all do but they show 57% in the top 10% and 85% in the top 25%.
You might ask the school for a GPA profile. It is unfair that they don’t give.
They note they are looking for rigor too.
I wouldn’t worry about a weighted GPA - everyone weights differently - for example, the way most weight you couldn’t have a 3.87 and 4.97 - but at some (like Chicago apparently) it is possiblble.
