Mac now or wait for 2013 Mac?

Is there going to be a 2013 Mac coming out?
My parents will be buying me a Mac labtop for college (I’m a senior)
Should I just buy the 2012 now or wait for 2013 whenever that comes out?

I was wondering the exact same thing! Someone please answer this!

Wait. You don’t go to college until August and most likely something newer will come out by that time.

the 13inch retina one just came out. an update won’t be out until late 2013.

The 15inch retina one will be out sometime in mid to late summer.

As for the Airs, those are probably going to be updated earlier, maybe April.

Haswell comes out this spring. The benefits to Haswell are lower power consumption and much better integrated graphics. So they should either be able to make it lighter or increase battery life. They might move more to integrated Intel graphics over nVidia or ATI in the future.

Buy a PC. Macs have the body of a Maserati but the engine of a Mazda.

^what he said. Macs will cost too much for too little gain. If you are so inclined, buy a windows PC and load it with the Mac OS.

If you are interested in Windows besides Mac, You could opt for ultrabooks or a PC. You will save your money and get equal or better specs than a Mac. And you could load Mac OS X on a PC

If you want a mac wait until the summer, Haswell will be released by then and a newer model of mac book pro

is a PC as reliable as a mac, a PC may have better specs but its reliability can be questionable

@zzlombard, Yes and no. It really depends which brand you’re buying from. There are manufacturers that will use cheaper parts and enclosures such as Gateway, Compaq, eMachines, etc. and then there are quality brands such as Asus and Lenovo. What you should also consider is how problems are treated since all computers have a chance of failing. Some manufacturers can be a pain to deal with whereas dealing with Apple can be convenient if you have an Apple store near you, especially since they have relatively nice service.

Apple usually has a back-to-school special during the Summer. Typically it involves a small discount off the machine (about $100) and an iTunes card worth about the same amount.
