Mac or PC

Which is more campus friendly? I am interested in an engineering major (possible Mech E.) and will start going to Stanford this fall and will buy a new Laptop. Are all Stanford-Programs compatible with both operating systems?

Which one do you guys recommend.

If it helps, I dropped in on an ME class that was doing powerpoint presentations, and the teacher was like “we know you guys had a lot of trouble converting the large mac files into pc format, so don’t worry about any technical problems during the presentation.” As she said this, at least half the students nodded and grumbled in affirmation. So, it certainly seemed that most ME’s had macs, which means a PC wasn’t required.

actually, i would recommend getting a pc, especially for mech e. you never know what modeling software you’re gonna have to run, so a better graphics card would probably be a good choice too.
as for me, i’m getting a lenovo t500 (customized to my own specs). i’ll probably dual boot the windows 7 release candidate and ubuntu or suse linux. that is till windows 7 is released for real sometime during the coming year.
