Mac question regarding a "symbol"

Son called and was wondering if I knew how to insert the “squared” symbol on a macbook.

In other words: 2 squared = 4

How do you insert the “squared” (little 2)

Usually “squared” isn’t a symbol, it’s just a 2 in superscript.

How do you type it?

Depends on the application. If he doesn’t have superscript available in his application, he might try 2^2 = 4

Superscript would be a format option for the selected text–similar to bold or underline in many word processors.

I hate not knowing the answer to something and it bugs me until I can figure it out. I figured out how to do it and thought I would come back and relay my newfound knowledge. Just type the number, highlight it, go to format and check the box that says “superscript”.

Thanks
