Can someone please help me with Macaulay Honors College essays? I’m not sure what they are looking for and I can’t find much online. Also, if anyone who is in the program can share stats that would be greatly helpful and appreciated!
Are you asking to define these ? They’re pretty standard essay questions.
I’m asking if there are any samples that have been successful or tips that are Macaulay-specific to help with the essay. I’ve been looking online for stats too but I can’t really find anything
You need to write your essay. Take a question and jot down idea after idea - what comes to mind ?
Everyone has had this - Describe an experience/time that impacted your life.
Maybe it was time at a job or part of a team at work ? Perhaps it’s a time you were a crime victim or tried out for a sports team and didn’t make it. Or did make it ? Maybe you got the winning hit in a baseball game. Maybe a relative passed or you visited a relative and they inspired you. Maybe you had a great meal and now you make it at home
This is truly a basic question as is the other one. You don’t need to do or know what others did although there are samples of this question on line.
You need to answer this for you…authentically. There’s no formula here.
if you can’t answer these, perhaps Honors isn’t for you.
What type of stats do you seek ?
I wrote a couple of drafts but my counselor keeps saying that it needs to be more NY central and I was just wondering what other successful essays looked like since I keep revising and he keeps telling me it needs something more, although I’m not sure what.
I was looking for things like average SAT scores I’m just nervous honestly
Why be nervous ? If they say no, oh well. You’ll find other options.
No stats here but says the acceptance is about 7%.
I disagree with your counselor - especially on the first question. It’s about you -not NY.
the second question - yes you can get specific given it asks which campus and why. Just answer it honestly although much is about you, not NY
Why do you want to go to college and what are some of your areas of academic interest or career goals? How does your specific Macaulay campus choice fit with those plans? What do you expect to contribute and gain from the campus-based and Macaulay communities?”
That’s what I’ve been telling him but every time he makes me redo it with more emphasis on New York, mainly the first one. I try to tie New York together with myself but like at this point it’ll be a love letter to New York. Is there a way to have someone review it?
I have good stats I have a good chance of making it I’m not sure I just get nervous about these things.

You can ask but I’m guessing few know it - and frankly, essays are subjective. All see them differently. You’re really just getting someone’s perspectives/ideas/thoughts.
I don’t think they need to have experience with the program.
