macbook air for hotel

i heard hotel professors don't recommend macbook air laptops, is that true?

Bump

@oreoboob‌ a laptop is a laptop, the thing is macbooks are best for students majoring in art(everybody has them)

In terms of college life, anything laptop is good

i know if you are majoring in architecture… then you need a REALLY strong laptop to be able to render 3d models in Rhino.

well, not necessarily. macs aren’t exactly the best for running spreadsheets

@oreoboob‌
a mac can run bootcamp for windows software, or can straight up just install the windows software – which is the same exact thing. It all comes down to hardware of the laptop — you can use a garbage laptop from 2008 just as long as it runs the software (and anything really runs word or other word processing programs)

I forgot to mention, if your an engineering student also u would want a stong laptop cause you occasionally have to design certain things in some autodesk programs —

What software does a hotel students need to run? (I still think you can use pretty much anything unless your within an art/architecture/engineering/design field)

I have two nephews who are hotelies, and they both have a Mac. My A&S daughter wish she got a Mac Air because it is much lighter and it is quite powerful now. I think most students have Macs.

ah ok thanks, more answers are appreciated

also this https://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/students/orientation/computer.html but if people with personal experience could explain why macbooks works just fine, that would be great

My son brought his Mac Book (I don’t now which model) and a PC-based laptop b/c of the Business Computing course. You could always use the computers in the computer lab at the Hotel School, but if you do not want to return there to complete assignments, a PC is useful, but not mandatory. I believe he said that it is helpful for other Hotel classes to have the PC also, but I am uncertain of which other than Business Computing.

What is the specific reason that you can’t use pcs for business computing?

also, if i run windows with bootcamp on my mac, will everything be ok?
