Would a MacBook Air work well for an engineering major at Stanford?

My guess is that you would want a more functional computer. Try the Macbook Pro.

yeah the air is a joke. what echang said

air is so thin does not have a cd drive. u have to install somewhere else and then transfer ur programme. go for macbook pro for functionality

MBA is borked

because of its size and weight, i would recommend the macbook air for those who don’t run intensive applications. the mba seems like an ideal replacement for the macbook.

I’m really considering the Macbook Air myself. Sure, a Macbook Pro might be more functional, but am I really going to need a CD-ROM drive all that much? I don’t burn CDs, that’s what an iPod is for…and if I need to install anything, I would just be able to use any other computer’s optical drive.

Plus, considering I’ll be flying cross-country to Stanford, a Macbook Air seems like the obvious choice to be lugging around in a carry-on. Our current family laptop weights 8.5 pounds. And while it doesn’t seem like much, it makes a bad pretty heavy, believe it or not!
